Falkland Islands
Mount Pleasant Air Base

The Mount Pleasant base was inaugurated on May 12, 1985, replacing the old Royal Air Force base located at the Port Stanley airport. Its inhabitants range from 1,000 to 2,000 soldiers. RAF Mount Pleasant is the only international airport in the Falklands. Sices, in collaboration with BGG UK – DDSL as the client, and TRANT Engineering as the final contractor, designed, built, and provided control panels for the main power plant of the base, composed of 5 MAN GAS generators of 2000kW @11kV. Sices also provided boards for the emergency power plant, composed of 3 Cummins diesel engines of 2000kVA @400V. Furthermore, in collaboration with Core Control, a company specializing in SCADA-DCS-BMS systems development, Sices realized the monitoring and remote control system for both power plants, which interfaces with the main base system.
